The Kerala government will soon take over the centuries-old Pazhassi Kovilakam in Kannur district where the descendants of the king Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja lived. In a high-level meeting chaired by the Kerala Chief Minister Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, it was decided to take over the heritage home and adjacent properties. It has been decided to take over the properties as a protected monument of the State Archaeology Department. Pazhassi Raja was an erstwhile ruler who is known for his fierce battle against the British in Malabar region. The meeting was attended by Minister for Archaeology and Archives Sri. Kadannappally Ramachandran, Minister for Cultural Affairs Sri. A. K. Balan and members of the Pazhassi royal family.
